There have been sturdy rumors about how Facebook, the social media major, is slowly making an entry in the hardware segment. The firm is being claimed to be busy on its personal smart speaker. And adding more to this, a newly discovered patent proposes an AR glass is just around the corner.

Spotted by Quartz, the new copyright points to the social media giant to be busy on an AR-based glass and will comprise a two-dimensional scanner with waveguide display. The glasses are claimed to have a translucent display. In the copyright, it has been clarified that the light will travel through the display, which will then arrive at the eye of the user.

“The waveguide display might be comprised in an eye-wear including of a display assembly and a frame that shows media to the eyes of user,” claims the patent.

As anticipated, the tech is being designed by Oculus, the Facebook-owned VR division. A research firm claims that one of the authors cited in the patent has also operated on Microsoft Hololens prior to this. There is no news as to when the social media major will roll out its AR glasses or if it will ever roll out it or not. Since the information given arrives from a patent, there might be possibilities that the gadgets may not see the face of the world at all.

On a similar note, Google appears to be craving a path in the AR division, once again post an unsuccessful attempt. The search major previous month rolled out its Enterprise Edition of Google Glass, moving away from the user aspect and focusing mainly on industrial usage. The wearable gadget arrives with a modernized camera module, which now comprises an 8 MP sensor as an alternative of 5 MP. The eye-gear also comprises more powerful processor, longer battery life, and enhanced Wi-Fi speeds. It is now detachable with no trouble and can be utilized with almost all types of glasses, comprising industry safety glasses.

Well, for now, all eyes are set on the launch of the new AR glasses by the social media major.
