Compared to what was posted last month, the number of uptakes for Android Marshmallow have doubled. Finally, this new Google mobile software is being taken seriously. According to analysts, Android Marshmallow 6.0 has reached its highest peak to date.

After first being released in November of 2015, Marshmallow showed very little growth. Now with the new edition out, the adoption rate has increased dramatically. As of last week, this Android app is now on roughly 4.6 percent of all devices going to the Google Play Store. From last month, that is an impressive 2.3 percent increase.

In simple terms, Android Marshmallow is more of an extension or refinement of the core functionality and features associated with Lollipop. The 6.0 version of Marshmallow comes with several new features, such as the quick-launch camera on the Nexus 5, 6, 7, and 8 that adds more than 200 new emoji characters.

Experts believe that Android Marshmallow had a slow start due to the slow and frustrating process connected to upgrades. Once a new software version is developed by Google, makers of smartphones, followed by mobile carriers, must conduct testing before rolling it out on mobile devices. As a result, the end Android user often waits months before having access to the new software version.

Android Marshmallow 6.0 is now picking up speed, as seen with the rollout by phone makers HTC, LG, and Motorola. Samsung, which has power over 20 percent of the smartphone market, just starting releasing Marshmallow for the flagship Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge only this past February. Even so, it is expected that more Galaxy devices will be included soon, which means the adoption rate for Marshmallow 6.0 will pick up even more.

Of all the different Google flavors for Android devices, Lollipop remains the most popular, holding a 35.8 percent share. Following with 33.4 percent is KitKat and then Jelly Bean at 21.3 percent. Lagging behind significantly is Ice Cream Sandwich with only 2.2 percent and Gingerbread with 2.6 percent.
