Tip Top Reasons to Live on Campus

Thinking about moving off campus next year? Having your own apartment can be pretty enticing, but it also comes with a lot of extra responsibility and work that you might not have thought about. You can live in an apartment the rest of your life, but you can't always have the convenience and experience of living on campus (that is unless you become a hall director).

Here are some reasons why living on campus(even if you are a senior!) is a really good idea:

A Better GPA! Studies show that students who live on campus tend to earn higher GPAs then those who live off campus. Plus, students who live on campus are more likely to graduate on time.

Pay It Now or Later! Need flexibility? You can pay or defer housing costs through financial aid, loans, or agreements on file. You can't do that on an off-campus apartment. You're also less likely to be evicted if your payment is a little late.

Hit that Snooze Alarm! You can crawl out of bed and walk to class five minutes before it starts. You can hit that snooze alarm while your commuting classmates are stuck in traffic and looking for parking spots.

At Your Service! Residence Life Staff is available 24 hours a day. Try calling your landlord at 4 a.m. on a Tuesday. In addition, RAs offer programs throughout the evening that you wouldn't be able to make it to if you were living off-campus.

Everything is Included! No need to bring out your cash, credit card, or check multiple times a month. Your food, cable, phone, and internet access are all included in your housing costs. No need to go shopping for furniture to fill that empty apartment either!

A 15 Day Vacation! We can't pay for your hotel, but staying on campus will give you the extra time. Living on campus is convenient. Students who live off campus spend an average of 91 more hours per year performing chores, paying bills, cooking, doing dishes, commuting to campus, and finding a parking space. Stay on campus and you've got more time in your day (time you can use for taking a nap in your own on-campus bed).

Look for more information in the upcoming weeks. Don't forget, your $200 housing deposit is due to the Business Office by April 13!
